i am trying to input arabic characters into a file i am creating and i have found the easiest way is to create a new document in danish or english, then print the document, then type the arabic text, save the file as a jpg, tiff, etc. it seems to save the file for all formats you need for printing (after printing, you have to send it as an arabic pdf, i guess). is there any other way?
i´m not having any luck, i found one on pixlr.com but it´s not working as it is supposed to. all i need is to insert arabic text (or arabic links for that matter) and it gives some error message. this is the link: http://pixlr.com/try/8154-topp/
there are many tutorials on the web explaining different methods for doing so. but even when following different paths they all lead to the same results. a combination of ms office 2010 and microsoft arabic type tool (mtt) is used to extract the content with either dom or stringbuilder. the latter is much easier as it can handle complex arabic text and links within a single span.
the download version of the complete adew’arabi font is a tar.gz file. with the tar.gz, each of the files that are included need to be extracted into specific directories on your harddrive. in my case, i extracted all these into desktop/arabic. i created a new folder on the desktop for my arabic font collection (as shown above). i created a folder under arabic called ooad and extracted the font files in ooad (not in arabic though). as i am also using the arabic keyboard, i found that i needed the d:\arabic folder. once i extracted the font files, i needed to make sure the arabic keyboard was enabled, or else i would get the ‘unfortunately there are no french keyboard shortcut keys’ error. finally, when i made sure that my arabic keyboard was enabled, i also had to reboot my computer for it to take effect. this is the same with other applications such as when i put d:\arabic\charset.exe (arabic codepage) in my syswow64 registry file.
