When Ms Page suggested that the pair get together, the agent replied: “I can’t believe you are willing to ruin your life for a potential that might happen.”
Despite the text messages, prosecutors now say the pair did not collude, and could not prove there was an ongoing conspiracy to manipulate the course of the 2016 presidential election.
A jury found the agents guilty last summer of leaking their political views to each other, yet the Justice Department has still yet to explain what they were trying to prove with the texts.
