The earliest AutoCAD, released in 1982, was written entirely in Basic, a dialect of IBM’s COBOL programming language for the IBM System/360 series. AutoCAD was originally intended for use by engineers at telecommunications equipment manufacturers in San Diego. It was created by the San Diego company C. G. Conn, which had previously developed a graphics tool called CSAD (Computer-Aided Design).
AutoCAD was released for the IBM PC running DOS in 1983. It was initially coded in Basic and sold for $1,995 (about $9,000 in today’s dollars). In 1985, after the IBM PC was released, the software was rewritten in Pascal, and a version for the Apple Macintosh was added.
In April 1991, the PC version was redesigned in response to customer demand and was later released as AutoCAD 3D. AutoCAD 3D introduced 3D features such as hidden lines and hidden surfaces. It also introduced the command line interface (CLI). Later that year AutoCAD 2.0 was released, introducing the Layer Palette (layer management). This enabled users to create groups of layers containing their drawing elements. A schematic layer was added for defining a template for creating drawing elements. The company also announced a new logo to replace the 1980s-era one with a monogram.
In the spring of 1994, AutoCAD 3D was renamed AutoCAD LT, and the new name reflected the fact that it was for the use of graphic designers and draftsmen, rather than engineering firms. AutoCAD LT was also released for the Mac.
AutoCAD LT 2.0 was released in 1995, when it added features such as script commands, template editing, and a new user interface (UI) that relied on icons rather than text. It included new tools for snapping and snap modes for aligning and editing.
In the late 1990s, the use of AutoCAD began to decline as users switched from desktop to web-based applications. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications gained popularity among users and as word processors. By 2000, AutoCAD had shrunk to about half of the market share. It was down to about 16 percent of the market by 2005.
Autodesk, the maker of AutoCAD, had responded with the addition of online tutorials, improved user and admin support, and annual new release cycles. Auto

Graphics-aware programming
AutoCAD, along with all other Autodesk products, can be controlled and integrated with Autodesk MotionBuilder, Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Fusion 360, and Autodesk VideoCAD.
Dynamo 3D supports, through a Web services interface, the ability to retrieve geospatial information from AutoCAD files. An example would be to retrieve information from a CAD model (plant layout, store layout) that would be used to generate an interactive GIS.
Python
AutoCAD Python is a Python wrapper for AutoCAD. A number of extensions have been written for AutoCAD, some of which are available on PyPI and can be used in a similar way to the.NET extensions.
AutoCAD PyLISP is a Python interface to AutoLISP using either LISP or AutoLISP and is written in Python. It provides very similar functionality to the AutoCAD PyLISP add-on for AutoLISP.

This invention relates to the removal of an undesired characteristic from a material in a process of manufacture of the material, and more particularly to the removal of alkali metal ions from an alkali metal containing material, such as sodium, by treating the material in aqueous solution with a complexing agent of the formula M-C-X.
Certain metal containing materials are extremely undesirable as by-products of the processes of manufacture of the materials. For example, materials that are produced in the manufacture of glass, in the purification of glass, and in the manufacture of certain metal alloys and as a by-product of processes of chemical synthesis contain significant amounts of alkali metal ions, such as sodium, potassium, and lithium. These ions may be present in the material as a product of the processes of manufacture, as a contaminant in the starting materials, or as a by-product in a reaction. For example, materials such as sodium sulfate are sometimes produced by the purification of glass, and also may be produced in a synthetic reaction. However, it has become increasingly desirable to reduce the level of these ions in these materials, or to reduce their presence in certain materials to below a threshold level that adversely affects the properties of the materials.
Removal of alkali metal ions, such as sodium, from alkali metal containing materials by treating the materials in aqueous solution has been known and used for many years. For example, alkali metal containing materials, such as natural limestones, are known to be beneficially treated in aqueous solution with sodium carbonate and formaldehyde to produce an insoluble sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,689,019 and 4,740,489 disclose the removal of alkali metal ions, such as sodium, from alkali metal containing materials by treating such materials in aqueous solution with a complexing agent of the formula M-C-X. Where X is a hydrogen atom or a metal cation. For example, the complexing agent may be prepared by reacting NaOH with a chloroformate of the formula RCOCl.

Layers in Design and Draw
Layers in Design and Draw help you organize your drawings into logical groups and present your drawings using an intuitive “menu bar” at the top of your screen.
Get visible status information about your layers and other annotations, such as underlayers and sub-layers, in each view, on the toolbar, and in your drawing.
Create a layer group to keep related layers together, and sub-layers for nested layers. Sub-layers preserve the topology of your drawings, enabling you to organize your drawings by purpose or by structural elements.
Organize your drawings using the new layering engine, which brings much of the functionality of layer groups and sub-l
