In 2017, Autodesk estimated that more than 125,000 businesses use Autodesk products, generating total revenues of approximately $4 billion. As of January 2018, AutoCAD claimed about 260,000 active users worldwide. More than 100,000 are AutoCAD designers, while the remaining 120,000 are AutoCAD engineers and other non-designers.

AutoCAD’s development has been funded mostly by the sale of AutoCAD LT and small business versions of AutoCAD. For about $5,000, a small business can purchase AutoCAD LT, which is the most powerful desktop version of AutoCAD. AutoCAD for Mac is a cross-platform version of AutoCAD, and runs on Apple Macs. It does not require a copy of AutoCAD on a Windows-based machine.
AutoCAD was created at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) by Bill Price, the director of the research center’s graphics group. Price had originally created a software system for interactively building graphical objects with the Rapid Development System (RDS), then a graphical programming language. RDS was integrated into a system called Multiplot to produce CAD drawings. Price hired Ken Russell to develop the software into a more accessible and integrated system, which became AutoCAD. Price worked closely with programmers at Sun Microsystems and sold the AutoCAD code to Sun. Sun became the distributor for AutoCAD LT in the United States in 1987.
In 1990, Autodesk acquired Sun Microsystems and the AutoCAD code for $39 million, and continued to develop AutoCAD for several years after.
AutoCAD is available as a stand-alone application or on a server. The current server edition is AutoCAD LT 2019. AutoCAD LT 2019 runs on the following operating systems: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 10 Mobile. AutoCAD LT 2017 is available for Windows Vista and Windows 7. On October 22, 2017, AutoCAD 2017 was made available on the Microsoft Store, but was removed on November 2, 2017.
AutoCAD 2019 is available as a 32-bit or 64-bit client, and as an enterprise edition that can be accessed by an unlimited number of computers and users.

Go to File > New project > 2D > Line Style.
From the dropdown box select “Add Line style”
Pick any color and give it any name as you like.
Double click on the new line style to use it.

One can use the available Shape builder for this.
Check the shape builder
Click on the shape builder icon on the left side
Open the options window by clicking on the little triangle symbol
The Shape Builder pops up.
Choose the line style and/or the shape you want
The benefit of using the shape builder is the saved work you can do and change it anytime
Since the shape builder doesn’t have to write a string, it’s a faster approach.
It’s even faster than using a “macro” for the text.

You can use AutoCAD’s text command directly in Notepad.
In AutoCAD start a new document and open the Options dialog.
Make sure to have the “Use Tools” option on, otherwise the macro won’t work.
In the “Text” tab add the following command
InputText OutputText:ItemNumber InputString
You can find the item number for the line you want in the properties box that is available when you select the line.
In Notepad paste the following and save it with the file extension.mac
^\|C::X^\&U=25
To use the macro in Notepad, open the file with Notepad and press Ctrl+K then hit Ctrl+X to execute the macro.
You can use any letter or character to trigger the macro, but I found the ^\&U to trigger it for me.
X is the first character after the ^\ and U is the last character before the &.
You can use a letter for the text to go in, it just won’t be visible.
One thing you need to keep in mind is that if you have a line with the text and an item number in the same line, the line numbering will be reversed (even if the line number is not visible).
The text command is useful for small strings.
You could use the search command with the Find What: regex (regular expression) command.
The regex you need is the following ^\|C::X^\&U=25
Search for the text and replace with ^\&U=25:
