Name That Fetch!
I love to talk about my kids! Just ask my husband and you’ll see what I mean. Of course, I love to share all kinds of memories with you, but I also like to talk about the little things. The things my kids love or hate. The things I learn from them as I experience motherhood.
I know, I know…we’ve all heard it before…you can’t say anything too interesting about the first few years of your child’s life. Why? Because they will “never get over it”.
Right.
Well, if that’s true, what’s the point?
I figure, why not pass along a few little tidbits that I haven’t already shared? Maybe you’ll learn something new about your own children, or just be entertained by some of the quirkiness and innocence of a newborn.
Here is the first of these little gems. A few months ago, my little guy discovered that he loved to “fetch”. Basically, I would toss an object, such as a ball, in front of him, and he would go after it. I would place it on my lap (of course) and say, “fetch”.
He would sprint towards me, leap into my lap, and attempt to grab the ball from me. I would carefully pick up the ball and place it in his hand, giving him one last chance to fail. He never did. He never has. He’s as sweet as they come.
Here’s how I ended the game:
“Okay, buddy, it’s time to put the ball down. Do you think you can?”
He would simply look at me, wiggle a little, and place the ball on the ground.
“Oh, you want it back? Go ahead and take it. Try not to drop it.”
