– the black and red sewers are now open by default at the beginning of the game, as it was not good that these areas were inaccessible until the end of the game. they are now much more easier to get to than the red sewers, and are probably the easiest way to get to the underdark.
– you can now see the underdark on the map, and the areas that you can travel to from the underdark are now marked on the map. this was to make it easier to plan your future travel.
– you can now choose to travel to the underdark via two different ways. if you choose to go to the underdark via the underdark journal, you can choose any way you want to travel to the underdark, and the underdark will be opened to you at the end of the game. if you choose to go to the underdark via the underdark journal, you can not choose the way you want to travel to the underdark, as this is determined by the way the journal is opened to you. you can still select to travel to the underdark via the underdark journal at any time, and travel to the underdark will be opened to you. you can only select to travel via the underdark journal once per game.
– there is a new map, which can be viewed via the gather information screen. this map has a lot of different things on it, so it is not actually very useful.
– the main story quest is much more linear now, because you start the game right at the beginning of the main story, and the game will not let you go past certain points in the main story.
