Not all captains are as unaffected by the removal of the Magic Knights as some others (such as Asta), but Yami is the most notable of those who are to some degree supportive of his successor. Yami and Asta both seem to be rather annoyed at Langris’ behavior and are highly critical of it. He takes exception to Langris’ attitude when Asta tells him to be more tactful. Yami is there for Asta in the aftermath of his defeat at the hands of Langris, and offers to lend Asta a spell that would give him control over the Spatial Magic users in the vicinity. Yami is also there when Asta is brought home by a medic, and is happy to see that he has healed well despite his wounds. He encourages Asta and the Black Bulls about the training exercises that the Rabbits are conducting, comparing Langris’ attitude to merely how much people dislike Ante.
Yami is quite the showboat, constantly boasting of all his accomplishments with his own spellcasting. His face is rather intimidating when he is resting it, but appearances can be deceiving, as his fists are utterly weak (also, his eyes are extremely weak, firing a laser beam from either.) He is very proud of his abilities as a Magic Knight, and overcompensates for it.
Yami is somewhat of Asta’s supporter, and claims that he envies Asta’s position as the Black Bulls’ Magic Knight. Yami is most certainly a coward (as evidenced by his total lack of pride that he showed when Vagesse showed the rest of the Captains his battle with Langris and Asta offered him protection against a direct attack), but he does possess a soft spot for Asta in his moments of self-doubt. He was the captain in charge of Asta’s rescue during the Royal Knights Selection Exam, and was the one who told Asta that he was the chosen one. He is also shown to have a fondness for eating, as he tends to carry around large nutrition bars while on missions.
