I did my research and found that Fuji’s DNG format is amazingly useful, so I downloaded the format and got to work. I’ve found that the best way to learn is to just try to do it, so that’s what I have been doing.
It became clear to me early on that DNG was the greatest bit of technology I had ever seen in my life. It is insanely easy to open a RAW file as well as a DNG file, and the capabilities are vast. The list of things you can do with a camera sensor is almost endless. I realized that I would need a tool to help me in my quest to learn this stuff and could not find anything that really made sense. So here I am with my new toolkit, the thing that I use everyday.
Now there are other options out there, but they are somewhat lacking. I do have an application called RawDefine, which does open DNG files and does some slight work, but is so basic, that you can do most of the work on it. I use it for only the most basic operations.
DNG is built specifically for photographers and has amazing capabilities. It’s also incredibly simple to use.
