New gameplay footage and screenshots of Tarnished Knight from the video game of the same name have been released in the Facebook group for Elden Ring, the Role-Playing Game inspired by the original roguelike adventure RPG by Red Entertainment. As mentioned by Co-Founder and Director of Red Entertainment I.E. to gamers on Reddit, gamers were worried that they would not be able to play the game due to lack of funding, but thanks to the generosity of the fans, a donation campaign on Kickstarter now has the funding needed to get the game done.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the original Elden Ring, the game was released on the Nintendo 64 as a sequel to the 8-bit Mega Drive/Genesis game of the same name by Red Entertainment in 1999. This game was well received among fans of the original, and has been called by some “the true legacy of genre-bending action rpgs on the 16-bit console in the early 90’s” and other similar sentiments.

In this new game, you play as the character Tarnished, a knight who has been tainted by a member of an evil cult named the Rosungru. The Rosungru attacks Tarnished while he is drunk, and this taints him with the Elder’s Curse, a magical disease that holds the power of true evil within him. While he recovers from this curse, he fights against Rosungru and other evil cults, and when he overcomes the curse, he will become an Elden Lord.

The creators have stated that this new story will be much shorter than the original one, and that it will be a homage to the classic roguelikes, with branching stories and “an intuitive turn-based battle system.” Since the development of this game, there have been some changes to the plot of the original Elden Ring, with the addition of Tarnished’s prince as the main character, the removal of the RPG battle system, and the addition of a multiplayer mode.

In addition to being able to enjoy the new gameplay and story, if you are a member of the Elden Ring Facebook group, you can browse pages for the game and see screenshots of the RPG, as well as videos of the game. From what I understand, on most days of the week the group is updated with new pictures and videos of the game.
