It is in a manner similar to Tamriel in that it borrows on some ideas from the Japanese (Sengoku period) and the (Meiji period) when Westerners first arrived in Japan, leading to confusion for some of the Japanese for a time. Arcterra is now developing the fantasy action RPG, ELDEN RING, which is set in an Elden-dwarf world that is similar to the mythic fantasy of Elderin, and you can play as an adventurer who is the last Guardian of the throne of Elden, and you must rebuild the world of Elden.
ELDEN RING is set in the land of Elden in a massive world full of excitement.
Elderin, the land of Elden, has fallen into ruin. The last Guardian, who is supposed to preside over the land of Elden as an Elden Lord, has disappeared. In this world, a battle between the races, an eternal war, rages. At the same time, strange creatures have appeared and elements begin to mutate. NARRATIVE – Completely unoriginal. Very good character writing, though.
SOUNDS – Good music, sound effects are pretty appropriate. The only thing negative here is a little low frequency “crunchy” hissing noise that comes when your character is near a heavy obstacle like a gigantic pile of rocks or a giant tree.
VISUALS – Beautiful. Nice attention to details. No doubt it is a Japanese 3D game. I was always curious if they actually used scanline techniques in their 3D games.
ABILITY TO CARRY ON THE STORY – Awful. The story mode is painfully short and non-existent, plus there is no multiplayer. If you have played previous Final Fantasy games, you will know it is extremely rare to see something like this.
REPLAY VALUE – Never. Seriously, this game is no longer than 10-20 hours. But the disappointment doesn’t stop here. I don’t know why you would think that its replay value could be much higher.
THERE IS NOTHING WORTH FIGHTING FOR – Practically a formulaic, linear action RPG that has a bad art direction. There are too few quests and not many side quests. There is no co-op or multiplayer.
GUESS WHAT? – A FINAL FANTASY game that would have been more appropriate for the the 10-20hrs plus, non-replayable Final Fantasy VI.
