I am considering running as an Independent in the upcoming primary. I have been reading your site for quite a while and came across the Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 7th. I found it on your site through the article “A Brief History of the Christmas Bird Count” on the Audubon website. My interest was piqued and I was looking for a specific region I could be in to participate. I decided on the Great Lakes region of North America and it is the region I am in. I was fortunate enough to have been counted in 2011 and 2012. I looked at the regions on your site and chose the South Central Great Lakes Region. Below is the map. I do also enjoy reading the histories of regions that I am participating in. I was originally interested in the Great Lakes region because I was searching for wildlife and to be involved in such an international effort to track bird migration patterns and how climate change is affecting them.
