6. In the Project Explorer window, select the ‘Windows Movie Maker’ project folder, and then click ‘OK’.
7. At this time, the program will automatically convert the.wmv file to four PGM files.

Storing a file in a Java application
In a Java web application I need to save a file from time to time. Now I can use the Servlet API which has support for saving files, or I could use a database to store the file. The problem I see with using the Servlet API is that it seems to be suitable only for serving files to clients, not for actual saving and storing files. (I have no way of testing this however.) And I don’t seem to find any good database solutions for Java, apart from H2.

You should really check whether it’s necessary to save file in database or whether you can just hold it in memory. Because it’s a bad practice, especially from file size perspective: if you can hold it in memory then you can’t tell whether you have enough memory to execute the app or not.
Why you need to store a file to DB? Just to be able to log user actions or whatever?
I’d suggest using standard OS services to operate on files:
