Removing imperfections and color from an image can make a huge difference to how a photo is received. With the Dodge and Burn tools, you can lighten or darken selected areas of the image, effectively producing a “vignette” around the edges, creating a soft focus effect.
You can increase or decrease the light or dark areas of the image to create a creative light effect, a creative dark effect or a creative black and white effect.

‘Facebook’ meets ‘Kleenex’ meets ‘Smokealarm’ for a little train-phobia humor.
When Chris’ friend John got a new job a few months ago, he had to move from place to place and he did not know which train to take. The thing about his job was that it was not that great, and he ended up not really doing much other than drive around (which was nearly as bad as his actual job) and park people’s cars. Fortunately, he had access to all of the trains he needed, and the train company, Union Pacific, makes them available to riders like John, and it looks like they do an excellent job making everything as simple as possible. Even the website is fun to check out, and there is a lot of self-explanatory information for people that are not necessarily familiar with the way trains work. I think this is great because you can look up any of the trains you see here, and find the schedule, and see what time they arrive and leave, when they are waiting for an engine to pull up or for customers to get off, how fast they can go, and other important features.
The website has a number of ads that are all funny and interesting. These ads are more discreet than the types of ads you may have seen around the stations in train stations and airports. There was an ad for the Union Pacific World’s Largest Restaurant (which must surely be one of the very few which really fit the description) and a few others.
The problem I have with the ads, though, is that they are all for Union Pacific itself. This makes me think that people may start to view Union Pacific as kind of a “beneficial monopoly” in the way that we see Facebook as a beneficial monopoly, but it definitely makes me question the quality of their advertising. The one that I find the least appropriate and most annoying is the typical “Union Pacific operates on rails to foster the global economy” one. I mean, how is that even funny? I can just imagine what some poor bastards had to do back in the day to make something like that happen. Maybe they had to do it with their own hands, or maybe they had to sacrifice a sheep. Why Union Pacific even has to be associated with any of this, I do not know, but I think the railroad needs to have to convince itself that it is
