The Photoshop file is a proprietary Adobe format that uses a combination of layers and filters to give it its graphical representation. Layers are used to create a separate file which can be used as a template to do all sorts of things.
Let’s open up an image. It doesn’t matter what image you use, but we’ll use an image of a storm cloud.
We’ll open up our file by pressing the CTRL/CMD key + F to open the file, or by pressing the G key on the keyboard.
Next, we’ll select the type tool. We do this by pressing the T key on the keyboard, or by selecting Type > Type Tool.
Once we have the type tool selected, we’ll place it on the image by dragging it onto the image. We’ll select the type tool from the toolbox by clicking on the X key from the toolbox.
When we first place the type tool on the image, it will be black. This means that it’s the active tool, and we can manipulate the image by using our type tool.

After we click the “Type > Add Text” command, Photoshop will first ask us where we want to place the text.

Step 5: Select the Smart Filter icon from the Effects in the Effects panel.
Step 6: Use the color wheel to choose a Smart Filter effect you want. You can choose from a range of different effects. For example, in this case the Blur effect has been selected. The Smart Filter effect offers more options than the regular Filter effects. However, you should check the documentation of the effect if you are not sure what to use.
Step 7: Double-click on the Smart Filter to apply the effect to the layer.
Step 8: Click in the canvas to exit the layer properties. You can now see your Smart Filters effects.
