we need to implement this system in a way that will work on aws rds. rds has strict security requirements for mysql so we can’t install our own mysql server. we need to use the aurora mysql instance that is provided by aws. we use the rds tools to install the mysql server and we use the aurora mysql tools to export our own tools that will simulate cheating and detect cheating. we need to set up a mysql user and define a password for the user.
we setup a mysql user and a password to access the database. we created a stored procedure and a set of triggers to verify whether a certain player is a cheater or not. we created a simple user interface to test the system – and it works perfectly. we can detect cheats and report them to customer care easily.
the cheats are easy to add. we need to start the game, open the cheat menu, enter a cheat code, and confirm the cheat is added. we also use a simple client side script to communicate with the server to find cheats, and add them to the cheat menu. we can also send a “cheat” or “uncheat” command to each user. the game will then report to the server and then the server will update the classification of the user in the databse. the cheat menu also gives the user the option to undo the cheat so they can be honest. we need to make sure that cheats are not removed from the game once added.
