I checked out the game and really like it. It’s fast paced and the combat is a real treat to see. You see, there’s so many easy to understand things about Tarnished and they’re obvious once you spend some time with the game. Pretty much everything that happens is driven by a system; you get stats, you gain skill points to spend on those stats, you level up your stats as you gain experience, so on and so forth. That’s also how you gather experience. Not only that, but you get to choose what type of move you want to use to deal damage. So you have the option to do something fancy like a flash of light or a thrust, or you can just smite your opponent with a mace and take their life.

Each weapon has its own special attack that does something different like a parry or a block and the more you level the better the weapon is. The game uses a lot of realistic logic in that the stats you gain in one area don’t affect another. The faster you can be, the less damage you take, for example. This way you can choose what fits your play style, etc. You can customize your character to fit your play style the way you want too.

What’s also neat is that you can equip weapons and armor without worrying about more stats. You can just equip it and go. I like this idea because it’s much easier to make quick decisions like this when you’re not worried about the stats of your weapon.

Aside from getting better at combat, the other main focus of the game is to create a guild, start a new guild, or join an already existing guild. This is where the online aspect comes in. This is where you, as a player, can connect and play with other players.

The online aspect of the game is pretty well implemented. When you’re on you have options to sort of group up. Most of them are the sort of “meeting up with other people” type of thing, but you’ll see “party up with other people
