While the living organisms of Elden and of the other lands were returned to the departed souls in the End Times, the new humanity, the Elden, now lives in a post-apocalyptic world.

I bought this game for my girlfriend a few weeks ago, and the first thing that got me was the freedom to customize my character. She does not play RPG’s, let alone active ones, so she was a little skeptical at first. We have played a few of the light RPG’s that Nintendo has put out, but she really enjoyed playing this one. The controls are awesome, and she was able to select different character templates at will. The combat is easy to get used to, and we can always send each other messages to help each other out (which was a bit of a joke). The on screen graphic representation of the character was awesome, and the game made no effort to hide this. My main complain is the battle music and soundtrack. I had this game plugged into my iPod to keep while we were playing, and even with the volume turned up, the music drowned out my girlfriend’s voice, and made it hard to hear everything that was going on. Given the length of the game, I expected to have a couple of hours worth of music, and not repeat songs for over 1/2 of that time. I do not expect the game to be good, but if the developers could have played with the music a little bit more, it would have made the game easier to play.
Not going to try to exaggerate, but the graphics were very lackluster, the characters didn’t look like people. They looked more like creatures, and very few of them had faces. The environment wasn’t too bad, and the castle itself looked a little bit better than your typical standard RPG setting. We played through the entire campaign, and there was absolutely no way that it was over after 5-7 hours. I really don’t recommend this game at all.

Story:
The story line revolves around a mysterious land between the Land of Light and the Land of Darkness. Throughout this narrative, the land of darkness swallows it’s own light and a series of inexplicable events take place. The chapters are not connected, in the sense that they are not chronological. The interaction between characters takes place at different times, and multiple situations are referred to on many occasions. If you are looking for a story that is told well, like a novel, you will be disappointed.

Plot
A middle aged man, or Zelden, is shown to be the owner of the “Elden Ring,” a stone that was created by unnamed Elves and wizards. Zelden was a great wizard and was the last of his people. The man led the kingdom for generations with the Elden Ring, protecting the world from evil. Everything changed when monsters invaded and were able to take over the kingdom with the new generation not even knowing of the Elden Ring’s existence. Now Zelden has disappeared, and as the new king, you must lead the kingdom against the monsters in order to restore peace.
