To establish the clinical features and determine the radiological and laboratory findings in patients of acute transverse myelitis (ATM). A prospective study was carried out in a tertiary care hospital from April 2010 to March 2011, and patients with ATM were included. Detailed clinical and laboratory evaluation was done. Two independent observers performed the neurological examination. All patients underwent a magnetic resonance imaging of the spine and a lumbar puncture was performed in all patients except those with severe epilepsy. Sensory and motor levels were noted in the first two patients. Other reflexes, cranial nerves, bladder and bowel function were assessed in all patients. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was tested for the presence of oligoclonal band and determining cell count and protein. Twenty-four patients with ATM were enrolled. The main presenting features were myeloradiculitis (88%) with distal muscle weakness (66%), sphincter disturbances (25%), and sensory level (83%), all occurring within two weeks from the onset. CSF revealed pleocytosis (5-100 cells) in 21 (87.5%), protein elevation in 21 (87.5%), and oligoclonal band in 8 (33%). In all patients, MRI revealed extensive spinal cord lesion extending from C2 to S3. Initially, the clinical and radiological features of ATM may closely resemble those of Guillain-Barre syndrome. After some research I’ve found this software called ACL Viewer.
I didn’t installed it yet but so far what I can say for it is that it’s free for personal use (as far as I understood from their website) and it’s a bit complex to understand initially but after a little practice it’s ok.
IMHO it’s more powerful than SetACL Studio because it also allows managing of access control lists for other protocol (like https).
In any case both are free and can manage permissions.
