when sati’s son is wounded, sati holds his hand and promises that she would protect him. there is a fight between sati’s son and dambhodbhava. sati’s son gets eventually kills dambhodbhava. now sati’s son is a freed man once again. he marries madanika and prays to have the boon from surya so that he and his wife are not killed.
surya went to dambhodbhava and said that this was all the boon that he had asked for. dambhodbhava was amazed, he was extremely happy. he was very pleased with surya and started killing all of his enemies. surya was not happy with this. he went back to his home [brahmanda] and meditated. he began to meditate on how he could stop dambhodbhava from killing all of his enemies. he concluded that he should be born as a woman and he must give a boon to dambhodbhava that his rule would not be that pronounced.
time passed. so many kings started fighting among themselves that the world became peaceful and prosperous again. this was a tremendous boon to the people. however dambhodbhava was still dead set on killing people. so he started killing people. but dambhodbhava did not realise that it was surya who was the sannaka [savior]. dambhodbhava started killing people, and surya was to stop him. surya thought of a way to get rid of dambhodbhava once and for all. surya ran to the court of dambhodbhava and said that he wanted to marry him. surya said that he had a one of a kind daughter and that he wanted to marry her off to dambhodbhava. the king said that he was very pleased and that surya would get his daughter as his wife. surya returned home worried. he asked his wife to act like a man and start behaving like a wife. meanwhile dambhodbhava got the news about surya and realized that he must kill surya soon.
