in the first part of this dissertation, we have investigated the current state of the art of the turing test, defined as the ongoing challenge for ai to exhibit human-level performance on the test developed by alan turing in 1950. we have followed the discussion of human-level performance since its inception in the 1980s, and we have pointed out weaknesses in the various approaches that have been taken. the chapter concludes with a discussion of human-like ai, including a case study on the open source intelligence and research alliance. the case study is a critique of the state of the art in open source machine learning, with the aim of demonstrating the feasibility of open research on ai. it also provides a glimpse of an exciting future for open source intelligence research. the paper ends with a call for more research on human-like ai, and a call to action for a more open research agenda.
