as far as a bfx ev. goes, im pretty sure that what im looking for isn’t available. it is a very mellow distorted pedal for distortion but it has such a good tone control that i really like. i run it before and after through a compressor to smooth out the sound, or clean it up a little and its a great pedal with just enough of that compressed, saturated character. it has a really nice noise gate as well.
it has all been discussed in other threads and are all very well known, and are not news. all of those pedals i have listed are in my opinion, all at the same level if not better than the big muff, i would put the importance of each pedal below the big muff, in the same order. i have yet to have a big muff, i have a moeller with a gt15 and i love that pedal. i love the moeller, and the big muff. i will say this, i consider the moeller, and the big muff to be one in the same, because you are not altering the tone of the guitar, just altering the tone of the amp you are using. the big muff does that for most gear, the moeller for some amps and some basses. thus as there is not much new to say about any of them, i will not reamortize on those pedals, but if you like to list your favorites. honestly if you liked the soft, and sfil you might like the big muff. if you like the tru, and are into tx basses, you will love the big muff. if you liked the lamb, you will love the big muff. for a small fee you will be able to give you a very good quality replica of the big muff for hours of cheap distortion by using a blackstar bsmv or a vox tc. so all of you out there, if you have a desire to own original hardware, buy the deluxe big muff. if you want to alter your existing amp to suit your tone, buy the moeller. if you want a spare amp, get a vox tc. if you are a tone whiz, buy a bigger muff. all that really is left is to use your ears, and play with them all. just like the list said, you probably will not find a softer or meatier fuzz than the deluxe big muff. the electric mistress sounds better than any other. so i say if you have not bought it, buy the big muff, even though you will spend more money than you need to spend.
