Plot
An Australian rock musician (as played by De Niro) and a flamboyant Italian restaurant owner (as played by Boyle) attempt to quell an ongoing feud over a business deal.

Production
The film was written by Neil Jordan, based on a story by Harvey Krume. Director Neil Jordan later said that the American network television were afraid that the film would receive a ‘M’ rating, so they asked for cuts. He said, “What happened was they gave me a list and I read the list and it was almost eighty pages long and it started with the word ‘vagina.’ The word ‘vagina’ was on every page.”

According to the book, “On Location With Neil Jordan” by Sonya Friedman, the film’s filming took place in The Village in New York City, which was later used for Murder on the Orient Express.

De Niro plays a version of himself, having switched the surname “Salvatore” for the name “Davey.”

Reception
The film received mixed reviews upon its release. The Los Angeles Times called the film “a comic hash”, and Roger Ebert said, “I’ll bet a box of Chinese-made Lucky Strike cigarettes that our side of the argument can come up with a better film sometime in the near future than this one.”

The film was a commercial success.
