ApSIC QA and QC is a powerful tool for proofreading and editing text to both simplify it and improve it. Some of these features include auto-generation of sentences, synonyms, or rules to guarantee consistency. Its intuitive user interface lets you work quickly, and the tools include powerful regular expressions that can be used in a variety of ways.

ApSIC Xbench allows you to perform powerful searches using regular expressions or Microsoft Word wildcards. To activate these search modes, do the following: Choose View->Show Search Options to show the Search Options pane. Expand the Search Mode drop-down and choose Regular Expressions or MS Word Wildcards. You will notice that an icon will appear next to the Source Term and Target Term fields to indicate that you are in the selected mode.

ApSIC Xbench is a versatile QA tool that can be used for a number of purposes. Many clients require Xbench QA reports as the tool used to be freeware. But it is a fast tool and very useful for handling large projects, so having a basic understanding of Xbench can be very useful for PMs as well as translators. Translators can for example use Xbench to concordance searcha large number of TMs, glossaries or bilingual translation files, and the highly innovative spellchecker is a fast and useful alternative to integrated spellcheckers in memoQ and other tools.

ApSIC Xbench is also a decent program when you need to perform a quick search of a cataloged file. However, this program is not designed to be used as a full-fledged CAT program in our experience.

The user interface for ApSIC Xbench 3 is organized as follows:

The left side of the interface is for managing your entries. A new entry can be created by clicking on the New entry link. You can save your entry by clicking on the Save button. To cancel an entry, you must click on the Cancel button. You can also modify an entry by clicking on the Edit button. To create a new document, you must select File.
The right side of the interface is to enter the source text you want to search. When the text you are searching is only in one language, you can create a source translation list by using the Source translation link.
The top of the interface is for exporting your results. You can export your results using the Export output option.
The bottom part of the interface is for setting options. You can change the output format by using the output format button.

xbench has two main modes, one for managing terms, and one for searching: 1) term management – create/edit term, create term categories, edit/delete term categories, and export/import term categories 2) advanced search – a powerful search engine to find the word/phrase you are looking for.
you can create term categories that can be used to classify the terms in your bilinguals. in addition, xbench allows you to view the terms you have already created, the ones that you have used in the past, or the ones that you may not have used. you can also edit the appearance of the categories, add your own fields, and remove them. in addition, you can export your categories and the terms contained in them to a separate document, and import them using any format supported by memoq, based on a csv file.
xbench integrates with all the classes you can have in memoq. you can also add and display dictionaries and glossaries from several popular cat tools, and attach files and folders from your file system to the document.
xbench support a powerful search engine, to find any word or phrase you are looking for, even if you don’t have a complete translation of the source term and the corresponding target term in the machine translation workspace. you can use regular expressions, any wildcard, and separate them with the powersearch feature, so you can combine them to get even more power of the search.
apsic xbench allows you to export all the sources, all the target terms, all the translations that are in the system to the glossaries that support them. you can also export a translation project, and import it using the import features of memoq.
