I don’t quite understand how the current way of downloading files using a software like WinRar can be considered any more safe than a well chosen site on the Internet. There is just no means to control how the website content is delivered to the user in the latter case.
A website can be at any site on the Internet. So you have no way of knowing how the content of that site will be delivered to you.
Therefore it makes no difference at all to me whether you use some popular download manager or a direct link.
My complaints are related to two topics:
The howto instructions make GetIView appear as an iView downloader. iView is a very unsafe downloader, because you never find out in advance which sites iView will open at. iView may act very different from the site you want. Imagine an iView download of some anime/manga site which is running Adobe Flash Player. In that case, the file will be located in the exact folder structure you find on the iView download area. So the folder layout will be completely wrong, and the file itself won’t be playable.
